LEAGUE INFO

Have a question about leagues? Get in touch with the relevant league rep on TeamApp or with our head of football Paula!

TRAINING

If you can help with carrying equipment to training please drop a message in the Ball Collecting chat on TeamApp when you sign up. The address is 2 Moye Close, E2 8QN... just a stones throw from the pitches (and the pub afterwards).

TRAINING FEEDBACK

⚽️ Reminder from Coach Josh: we've got a feedback form where you can let us know your thoughts on training. Feel free to send this either straight after a session, or when it suits you during the week. ⚽️

👉 You can also feedback specifically on our all-abilities tournaments: We started doing all ability training tournaments a year ago. The idea was to provide opportunities for everyone in the club to meet each other and to reinforce our non-ability ethos. We wanted to check in about how you all found the training tournament two weeks ago. Please feedback here if you have any thoughts or comments, including if you enjoyed!

COACHES CORNER

Welcome to the 8th (EIGHTH) season of GDFC! What a time to be alive, and what a time to be a member of the greatest football club in the world. By now, you've probably been to the first two sessions in September, and have dipped your toe into the worlds of 5, 7 and 11 a side for the 2022/23 season. We have created an outline of what we're planning on coaching between now and December, as well as how we're planning to coach it. This is essentially a combination of the 'syllabus' that we've worked from in the past, and the technical focuses that we use week to week. We're trying to make sure that there are enough opportunities within sessions to coach members who are playing different formats (5/7/11s), and also playing varying amounts through the week. There's also some background on what we want Wednesdays to be. Please have a look through, and try to support us in creating a special environment to play and develop in. As always, give us a shout if you have any questions!

11s FRIENDLIES

GREAT NEWS - FRIENDLY 11S WILL GO AHEAD! We are THRILLED to say we have enough sign up for this dream to become a reality. The matches will be at Hackney Marshes and the dates are below. We will confirm kick off times & opposition asap.

Tomorrow (Monday) these TWO new 11s league options will be added to the store - to avoid confusion, they will be labelled as follows: i) Sat Hackney Exp 11s (Oct-May) ii) Sat Hackney Beg/ Int 11s (Oct-May) The way we label leagues is to reflect the ability level of the opposition teams we play against - this is to give you a clear indication of what to expect. Please sign up for the level you wish to play against. 11s DETAILS: Dates: 8th Oct, 5th Nov, 3rd Dec, 14th Jan, 11th Feb, 11th Mar, 8th Apr, 6th May Post time: Monday 7.30pm (first post 3rd Oct) Location: East London - Hackney Marshes Kick-off Time: 11am or 1pm kick-off (please add preference to link below) Vs: Queer friendly, non-ability based teams that we know and love Price: £0/£10/£20* (GDFC are covering 50% of the fees) You can still sign up! We are really keen to get ALL of our members playing matches - as they are such a crucial way to grow your footie, feel part of the GDFC community & make friends. So if you have not signed up yet PLEASE sign up here and pay for your league fee in the store tomorrow.

KIT KITTY

AT GDFC we want to make sure there’s as little as possible preventing you from playing football. For any members that need any financial help towards buying new boots / kit / transport costs etc, we have a kitty to help out. Just get in touch with Gaia at membership@goaldiggersfootballclub.com!

COMMUNITY CORNER

This section is reserved for anyone in the club who has stuff they want to share (job posting, events, other cool opportunities -- whatever!) If you ever want to add anything to this section just email press@goaldiggersfootballclub.com and put 'NEWSLETTER' in the subject line.

HELP US SOLVE THIS CONUNDRUM

There was nothing submitted to community corner this week, so we're filling with a completely off-topic submission from Shiv:

Important: did Harry Styles throw a goat at Chris Pine? If you know, you know.

PLAYER SHOUT-OUTS

TRAINING

Thanks to our coaches for a wonderful busy session on Wednesday. Players of the week were Cydney (newbie!), Fred (newbie!), Jess & Nura!

TUESDAY 7s

Farida was player of the game on Tuesday! Probably down to her insatiable, fancy footwork.

TUESDAY CLUBS UNITED

First game back at Clubs United Season 2. Was a great team effort with everyone pulling their weight! So many amazing link up plays lead to a very thrilling game, though we sadly lost 3-2 against Brockwell Bullets.

Player of the match was a difficult pick but was awarded to Laura, who was unrelenting in attack and scored a beautiful shot across goal in the second half (assisted by a perfect pass from Mira).

SUNDAY 5S

Sunday 5s Player Of The Week for All Stars was the one and only G Bruce - due their silky skills, selfless play and spicy goal! A true pleasure to watch them play! And congrats to all the all stars - truly all stars.
